2018年1月15日，应清华大学立方体-泥沙课题组方红卫教授的邀请，英国卡迪夫大学（Cardiff University）Thorsten Stoesser教授在水利系泥沙实验室数字厅开展了题目为“Experimentally-supported CFD simulations in hydraulic engineering”的学术报告。报告由李丹勋教授主持，来自水利系的20余名师生聆听了报告。

Thorsten Stoesser，professor and director in the hydro-environmental research centre at the Cardiff University，School of Engineering. His expertise includes turbulence modelling using RANS and large eddy simulation (LES), rough-bed hydrodynamics including vegetated flows，high-resolution simulations of the turbulent near field in multi-phase flowsand computational methods to study numerically fluid-structure interactions.
